The Three Pillars of Aikido Training
Aikido emerged from Japanese culture and incorporates the most refined of its martial and spiritual traditions. Weapons training using wooden sword and staff, and Iai Batto-ho (art of drawing, cutting and sheathing a sword) reveal the martial roots of our practice while meditation its spiritual source. These practices support and inform our aikido training. They play an integral part in the development of mind/body clarity and coordination. Our classes include instruction in:
Bokken and Jyo: Wooden sword and staff.

Iai Batto-ho: The samurai art of swordsmanship, which includes drawing, cutting, and sheathing the blade

Zazen: Zen Buddhist sitting meditation
