Congratulations to Tristan on an excellent test and achieving his 8th kyu orange belt. Tristan will be missed while he is away from the dojo, but we know he will continue to train hard!
Birankai has started a fundraising drive to establish an endowment that will be able to assist dojos in their efforts to bring quality Aikido, Iaido and Zazen to their members through seminars. We will not be depending solely on our students for donations but will be reaching out into our communities for support. We have a national goal to raise $400,000 in 4 years and we are hoping that each dojo in Birankai will establish a personal goal within that time. Read More...
August 10-11 North County Aikikai and San Diego Aikikai will be co-hosting a seminar with Jenny Flower Sensei from Athens Aikikai. Flower Sensei will be at San Diego Aikikai on the Saturday and at here at North County Aikikai on the Sunday. Click here for more information. I encourage all members to attend either all or part of this seminar. If you have any questions as to whether or not you are ready for a seminar, please speak to me directly.
Because of the seminar in San Diego, we will again be incorporating the two Saturday morning classes into one. All students who take the Fundamentals class at noon are encouraged to attend the 10:15 - 11:45 class instead.
Saturday, August 17 - ZANA's GOODBYE PARTY!!! As you you all know by now, Zana will be leaving to attend Mills College at the end of the month. She will be missed by us all but this new journey in her life is cause for celebration! Please join us - families too - for this pot-luck event. Details to follow.
